David and I enjoyed a lovely 4 days at Le Diamont Noir. Our apartment was beautifully furnished, well equipped and clean. We were traveling via motorbike and explored the nearby towns, coast, and Gorges when the weather was fine. We did have a rainy day, but were happy to stay inside the comfortable flat. While there is a supermarket across the road, we found it an easy walk into Aups and did so for visits to the bakery and butcher or after (home cooked) dinners for coffee.
Colin was an affable and welcoming host, and we would not hesitate to return to Le Diamont Noir.

Spent a great 5 nights in this property in Sept 16. Beautifully appointed, comfy bed, pillows and linens. Fab shower. Kitchen had everything needed and a store cupboard with the basics means catering for yourself is easy. A supermarket just over the road means fresh bread and pastries for breakfast can be quickly acquired. The complimentary wine was greatly appreciated and Colin and Sandra the hosts were friendly and helpful without being intrusive. They made some good suggestions on what to do in the local area – Tourtour hilltop village, the Verdon Gorge to name just a couple. Plenty of places to eat in the village which is just 10 – 15 mins stroll away. The accommodation shares a decent sized pool with the other two small properties on this site (all owned by the same people) so its quite private. The complex is secured behind electric gates and there is plenty of parking, Wouldn’t hesitate to return or recommend it to friends

We had a very enjoyable fortnight in the Truffle Gite which more than met our expectations with regard to the equipment and furnishings provided – there was nothing that we found missing. We took full advantage of Sandra’s home-made dishes (four in total), and with eating out at some of the excellent restaurants nearby we hardly did any cooking other than the odd boiled egg for breakfast. We particularly liked La Petite Auberge at Tourtour where we went twice for a lovely dinner with fabulous views.
Once behind the gates we did a lot of lazing by the pool (which luckily we mostly had to ourselves) and each day kept an eye on the 3 thermometers as the temperature rose little by little. We hardly noticed the supermarket across the road apart from the occasional use of the automatic car wash, and it was really handy to nip across for provisions, wine, ice cream etc. Much to Colin’s amusement we actually drove across on the first day, but we did buy quite a lot of bottles!
The town of Aups is sweet with plenty of cafés, restaurants and shops. The Wednesday market was brilliant and there was also a flea market on our middle Sunday.
Colin and Sandra were the perfect hosts – always there when wanted for help and advice.

  4. Mark & Karen Tomlinson

The property was fitted out to a very high standard with good quality fittings and well thought out décor. It was a lovely place to stay. All the odds and ends you would need on holiday are there. Sandra and Colin were very helpful and accommodating. The 3 properties shared the pool which was well provided with sun loungers and parasols etc.

The town of Aups was within reasonable walking distance. The town was very attractive with shops bars and restaurants. There was also a number of markets held during the week.

There was a supermarket across the road from the property, but this did not cause any disturbance and proved very useful.

All in all a great holiday

Colin & Sandra’s gites are extremely well equipped, with touches of home, and ideally located to explore the best of what Provence has to offer.
We were looking for a combination of relaxation, comfort and privacy, and we found all three!
    Thoroughly recommended!

  6. Adrian and Barbara

We had a very relaxing here .
    Very well equipped accommodation
Great location for exploring this part of France
The supermarket across the road was a bonus, once inside the grounds of the house you would not know it was there.
Colin and Sandra were the perfect owners ie around when needed and very willing to give advice and sort things out, but not intrusive
We would highly recommend this accomodation

  7. Graeme Alderson

I have stayed in dozens of gites in France and this one is the only one that had a properly equipped kitchen that wasn’t made up from the owner’s discards. Marvelous.

Add to this the fact that essentials such as oil, toilet roll, condiments, tea (yes we are Brits so tea is an essential) and even a nice chilled bottle of rose, are all there waiting for you is great. And not common!

All of these things made it feel more like a hotel than a gite. Well done Colin and Sandra.

  8. Peter and Janey Lewis-Smith

We have returned to Provence every year now for six years to a different venue each time but Sandra and Colin are the best hosts we have had. We were slightly worried about the proximity to the Supermarche across the road but the noise was minimal and ease of access to fresh bread and croissants in the morning more than compensated. The accommodation, pool and garden were all first class and we particularly enjoyed being so close to Aups to allow us to stroll in to the markets and restaurants. Var Provence is a particularly beautiful and relaxed area and the locals so friendly and food so good that we would recommend Le Diamant Noir very highly. We also strongly recommend the “in house” generous wine tasting evening with superb canapes. We didn’t try the BBQ evening but it sounded equally appealing. Well done Sandra and Colin and good luck with all the family.

  9. Rogier van Kralingen

I’ll make it short and sweet. We had a great time in Aups, beautifull place it is. Le Diamant Noir was spotless, everything was there and we slept like a log! Great stay!

  10. Ciera and kevin

Kevin and I had a fantastic week staying at the Diamant Noir. The accommodation was top notch and the location was perfect. Within our gite there was everything that we could have wanted, plus extras. Sandra and Colin have thought of everything.
Aups is a great location and we hope to return in the future.

    Thank you Sandra and Colin.

  11. Darlene and Ken Shepard

Our stay in your lovely Aups gite was delightful!! I am a stickler about cleanliness and I was amazed at how clean everything was…down to corners in the bathroom!!!! Your kindness in making our 31st anniversary special, was over and above!! You made us feel very special. Thank you…
    Oh….and we absolutely enjoyed sipping
Rose’ with Colin and hearing his stories!!!!
    Keep him……he’s great!!!! ❤️

  12. Richard & Rona

We have just spent a wonderful week at Le Diamant Noir, and would give the gite and our wonderful hosts the highest recommendation.

The accommodation is delightful, and the little extras make it all the better – fine toiletries, huge fluffy towels, a lovely selection of local goodies to enjoy, and a beautifully prepared and reasonably-priced meal in the fridge for our arrival night.

The essentials in the store cupboard give a great start to your break – no dashing about for shopping on your first evening.

Colin keeps the pool in perfect order, and the lush gardens are a delight, offering real privacy behind all the greenery.

Aups is in a great location for touring the Haut Var, as well as being a pretty little town in its own right. Be sure to have lunch in Le Provencal and L’Auberge de la Tour (stay cheap though – there isn’t much to gain by moving up the menus !), and don’t miss the market days of course.

  13. Jacqui

A very big thank you to Sandra & Colin for your hospitality. We enjoyed every moment of our stay at Le Diamant Noir and were very reluctant to leave! Our gite was extremely well equipped and clean. Having the supermarche across the road was very handy for fresh croissants and bread in the morning. It’s walking distance into the beautiful ancient town of Aups where there is a market twice a week, beautiful shops including a wonderful pottery, and many very good restaurants and bars. The area’s great for cycling and walking. A visit to the Gorges du Verdon is a must! We drove there twice to enjoy the breath-taking views. Two weeks really isn’t enough time to explore this beautiful area, so we will definitely be returning again!

  14. Anne-Marie Loraine

We would like to say a big thank you to Colin and Sandra for providing such a clean and comfortable place to stay. The “Genvrier” is a beautifully appointed one bedroom gite. We came to the area to research gite business opportunities and we have to say that we learnt a great deal from all the thoughtful touches provided in our gite from the dishwasher tablets through to the beautiful surprise gift on our arrival. Sandra and Colin had thought of everything and it was a pleasure to spend a week there. Really handy for the Verdon Gorge and villages such as Tourtour and Villecroze (lovely gardens). We walked into Aups regularly for the markets and meals etc (great not to have to drive back to the gite).
    Thanks again Colin and Sandra

  16. Karen Chapman

We were very sad to leave our little gite after a lovely two weeks stay. The gite was comfy, clean and very nicely furnished. Our twin girls loved their bedroom. We felt very at home there. We had a lot of fun times in the pool, most of the time we had it to ourselves. Sandra, Colin and Gail were very friendly and welcoming. We like to do our own thing and didn’t feel obliged to join in with bbq etc, although we think it’s a great idea. We found some very nice restaurants in Aups, our favourite being Auberge, which we visited 3 times. I was recovering from a broken foot so we always went to Aups by car, but wouldn’t be too far to walk, if you’re able. Very convenient having a supermarket across the road, Graeme went across every morning for fresh bread for our breakfast. We went through the Gorges du Verdon in a pedalo. I didn’t pedal. Can I recommend that people phone up and book one of the electric boats, much easier. They get booked up quickly. A beautiful place. We found a pony club and our girls went riding. We love the South of France and thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Le Diamant Noir. We look forward to staying there again.

Homeaway Review #6506362 “A wonderful week in rural Provence” – Frank and Gail

We spent an idyllic week at Le Diamant Noir and Sandra and Colin were the perfect hosts. La Truffiere is perfect for a couple who are looking for comfortable, clean and peaceful surroundings. We consider ourselves to be experienced gite holidaymakers and would say Sandra and Colin have got everything spot on. This was the most well equipped gite we have stayed in. The quality linens and extensive equipment were excellent. The innovative store cupboard also meant absolutely everything was provided. What a nice welcome that makes and what a change it makes from the ordinary. The pool and gardens are beautiful and immaculately maintained. Full of scent from the lavender and shrubs which encourage countless butterflies. Sandra and Colin’s welcome and hospitality throughout our stay simply added to the experience. We attended both the wine tasting and BBQ evenings and the food and wine were delicious. The region is beautiful with numerous authentic Provencal villages, markets and restaurants within very short distance. The Gorges du Verdon are spectacular, even after several previous visits. A bonus this time was to see the Lavender harvest in full flow. The air was simply full of delicious aromas. It is a 15 mins stroll into Aups for morning coffee and bread, excellent boulangeries and shops, with the twice weekly market held on Wednesday and Saturday mornings. There were also artisan marches and brocantes during our stay. Good restaurants in Aups with musicians playing in the street on several evenings. We would highly recommend Le Diamant Noir if you want to experience authentic Provence.

Had a lovely week in Le Genevrier. The accommodation was spotless and contained everything you needed. Although we didn’t use it a great deal the private terrace area was lovely. The sunloungers by the pool were very comfortable and although the pool is shared, it always felt quiet and intimate. As others have said, the hosts are friendly and at your disposal but do not intrude. Aups is a lovely little town and only 10 minutes walk away. The supermarket opposite is very convenient and the noise from the road only bothered us on one night when there seemed to be an influx of loud scooters in the early hours. Other than that no road noise at all. Aups is a great base for exploring the area, including the Gorge du Verdon, the lake and only an hour and a half from St Maxim on the coast, from where you can get a boat to St Tropez. So all in all a great spot with lovely, compact accommodation.

  19. Elaine and Mark Graves

We were so lucky to find this accommodation as we left it rather late to book somewhere. It was perfect for us. Although situated on a main road, the layout was such that once behind the gate of the accommodation the attractive dense hedges between the accommodation minimised the traffic noise. A plus side of being near the main road was that it meant only a 10 minute walk into Aups, such a lovely Town, really quaint with lots of restaurants and other shops. The supermarket is directly opposite the accommodation and so we had fresh bread for breakfast every day. We visited some friends who were holidaying about an hour away, and I would not swap their views of the country side for the perfect location of our Gite Le Genévrier. So the Gite itself was very comfortable and there was not a single thing we could have asked for, if I had to rack my brains for something it would be a set of bathroom scales, but actually that was a big relief not to have to check my weight during the week, so thank you Colin and Sandra for not putting scales in the bathroom! I had been a little worried about the size of the bed, being used to sleeping in a king bed at home, but the double was very comfortable, lovely bedding that was clean and fresh. I cannot praise this place enough, it was clean, comfortable and situated so that travel to the surrounding beauty spots did not seem far away. Colin and Sandra make you feel very welcome and are on hand if you need anything, but do not intrude. The BBQ was excellent as was the wine tasting that they put on. I would highly recommend this accommodation, just before we left we looked at the other Gites, which were equally well equipped and tastefully decorated, all with their own character. The beauty of staying here also is that because it only has a few Gites, it does not feel overcrowded with people, and so using the pool area it is rare to fid anyone else there at the same time as you, and you can imagine it is there just for you. We had such a great time and would love to go back again. Book it and enjoy.

  20. Alex & Myra Finnie

had a wonderful time at first class accommodation, everything you would possibly need was supplied, ideal location for touring area with lots of lovely villages to visit, also within walking distance of village of Aups which had market on Wednesday. Had relaxing time at pool which was always kept spotless , hosts Sandra and Colin were very friendly and helpful and would recommend BBQ night on Thursday which was most enjoyable. would not hesitate to recommend to others. Definitely would like to return.

  21. John and Cheryl

This was our first visit to Le Diamant Noir, Le Genévrier, the gite was recommended by friends. Thanks for the recommendation! The gite was everything we had hoped for sparkling clean, beautifully decorated, well-equipped with everything you need and an easy walk to the store to get our groceries. Colin and Sandra were wonderful hosts, and the region has so much to see that do we could spend many more weeks exploring. The gorge was amazing and we enjoyed discovering the streets and markets in Aups, Tourtours, Villecruze and many other little towns. We have already recommended Le Diamant Noir to friends and colleagues and will continue to pass on recommendations to anyone else planning a trip in the area.
Thank you, we had a wonderful time.

  22. Cameron and Jane

We had a wonderful stay in La Truffiere. Sandra and Colin were as hospitable as ever (we stayed in another of their properties a few years ago). La Truffiere is a delightful little property for a couple – luxuriously appointed, with everything we needed for a relaxing holiday. The accommodation was spotless and ideal for a stay no matter what the weather. We had a week of sunshine and spent many hours on the lovely little terrace. We plan to return in the future and would recommend this property to anyone looking for accommodation a short walk from the centre of Aups – a delightful market town.

  23. admin

It was lovely to meet you- Such a shame that the weather was not as good as expected. It was most unusual for that time of year.
Glad that you enjoyed the area and that the weather improved to let you see the gorge at its best.
Just to clarify- none of the apartments overlook the swimming pool. L’Amandier and Le Genévrier are situated on the same side of the property as the pool, but it is accessed via a woodland pathway. The pool itself is not overlooked and is surrounded by hibiscus bushes which are very pretty, with a long flowering season.

  24. Stuart and Jackie Vickers

This was our first visit to Provence and we visited with my sister and brother-in-law the first week of September. They stayed in Le Genevrier and we stayed next door in L’Amandier. It was fabulous having the space, privacy and the pool! We had the most fabulous holiday, (despite the unseasonal rain!) and all we can do is to reiterate what other visitors have said. The gite was so well equipped, there was absolutely nothing they hadn’t thought of and it was spotlessly clean. Sandra and Colin were wonderful hosts and even arranged our trip back to the airport. We did view the new gite La Truffiere which we thought was lovely, with the advantage of air con should you need it. We would not hesitate to recommend these gives to anyone and we shall definitely return.

  25. Barb and Trevor Peters

From the information available on the website, and our experience of renting gites throughout France, we arrived at La Diamont Noir confident that this was going to be a ‘good one’ and we were not disappointed. We stayed in La Truffiere, which is new this year, and we were very impressed with the décor and facilities both inside and out (although instructions for the hob in English would be useful – I never did master it!), it is apparent that a lot of thought and experience has gone into the clever use of space to provide very comfortable accommodation; the bathroom in particular was most welcome as we had spent the week before on the coast in a lovely apartment overlooking the sea but which had the most appalling bathroom . This gite does not overlook the swimming pool as the others do but it does have a lovely private terrace and is close to the petang area. Aups, just a 10 minute walk away, is a ‘real’ French town where you are able to enjoy a taste of traditional French lifestyle with plenty of cafes to sit and watch the world drift by.
Unfortunately we arrived in pouring rain which continued on and off for most of our stay meaning that we weren’t able to enjoy the pool or the al fresco dining that we had been looking forward to, however on the whole the weather was very warm and we did manage to visit many hilltop villages including Toutour (where we had a super Formula de Jour at the Auberge St Dennis), Villecroze, Salernes, Aiguines and Moustiers, all of which are truly delightful. A visit to the Chapel de Notre Dame de Beauvoir in Moustiers is an absolute must and we recommend that you take the route via La Grotte Ste Madeleine for spectacular views over the lake.
The highlight of course has to be the boat trip down the Gorge du Verdon (we opted to hire an electric boat on the advice of the more experienced ‘regular’ guests) and were rewarded with the most beautiful weather and even saw griffon vultures soaring above the gorges.
Sandra and Colin are excellent hosts; available when you need them but not intrusive. All the thoughtful little extras that are included make for a very comfortable stay indeed. We would certainly rate La Diamont Noir amongst our favourite gites, and no doubt had we had better weather to enable us to use the pool etc, would probably rate it the best we have ever stayed in. We ourselves rarely return to places we have visited simply because there are so many other places we still want to visit however we would certainly recommend these lovely gites – and Sandra and Colin’s generous hospitality!!
Thanks also for returning my mobile.

  26. Jim Piddock

Great stay! The gites are superbly equipped, with amazing attention to detail. The owners, Colin and Sandra, are extremely welcoming and helpful. They will go the extra mile to make your stay pleasurable.

  27. admin

It was lovely to see you again, Looking forward to next year’s party!

  28. Nigel & Sue Cove

This was our second visit to Le diamant Noir, we returned this year for a 2 week stay as we enjoyed it so much. All the gites are immaculate and well eqipped and the pool is lovely and relaxing. Aups is a perfect base for sightseeing but is also a lovely town to stay in. Try the new restaurant, “La Truffe” which is amazing. Also we like Des Goumets and for outside eating the Auberge hotel is lovely.
We have been going to Aups now for 17 years and these are the nicest gites you will find for 2/4 people. Trust me, we’ve tried most of them! Sandra is an excellent cook so do try her meals (the daube of beef and the chicken were lovely). Colin & Sandra made us very welcome again and we had a lovely evening together with the other guests.
We will definitely be returning again next year and do not hesitate to recommend Le Diamant Noir to other holiday makers.

  29. Sylvie & Pierre Favier

    A recommander

  30. Trevor & Diane Storr

What a great place Le Trufferie is, it has everything – including super hosts too. Le Diamant Noir overall is great as well, both for relaxing and is handy for site seeing.
The supermarket over the road is very convenient and sells petrol, so no problems there.
We could have stayed longer, but you have to come away to go back seems to be the logical way of looking at it.
    Sounds good to us!!

  31. Piers & Trish Kiss-Wilson

We had an amazing week staying in le trufferie it had everything you could hope for in a home away from home. Sandra and Colin were great hosts and full of great suggestions of things to see and do in the area. Sandra’s cooking was lovely and very convenient after long days out. The cottages are in a perfect area for exploring and the supermarket is very handy being across the road. We can’t wait to come back!

  32. Eileen & Andy Baddeley

Having just spent the most wonderful week at Le Diamant Noir, we can’t thank Colin and Sandra enough for making our stay perfect in every way. The accommodation is first class and every attention has been paid to the little details – from fresh flowers and wine waiting for our arrival to the store cupboard of essentials which saves you having to buy full packets of everything! I would echo the compliments paid to Sandra’s cooking as it is fabulous and when I return here I would quite definitely order more of it! And great BBQ Colin! La Diamant Noir is in a central location for touring around the little villages which cling to the surrounding mountains or for you to spend a lazy day at Lac St Croix. Of course the Gorges du Verdon is a definite must although the drive can be rather hair raising in places. Sandra and Colin have provided a pack full of information about the surrounding region so you will never be short of somewhere to go. We were very sorry our stay was not for longer.

We are fortunate enough to meet people from all over the world-already this year Don and Diane from America and Julie and Brian from Australia
Many thanks for your kind words. We hope you will come back to visit us again

  34. Julie and Brian

A wonderful accommodation in Aups, excellent location, spotlessly clean and wonderful hosts. The outdoor area was particularly attractive and private. Lots of extras that one does not normally find in this type of accommodation. Great BBQ night!

  35. don and diane

We just arrived back in the U.S. from our month in France. We spent a great week in Aups with Sandra and Colin at Le Diamont Noir. Diane and I both commented on how much we enjoyed our week and how much we really enjoyed the Aups area. The accommodation was wonderful and Sandra and Colin are perfect hosts! Thank you for a wonderful time.

  36. Alex

What a find!!!! 2 Lads looking for a short trip to the mountains for a couple of days skiing and some French chill out time in the hills and on the coast. We found Le Diamant Noir on the web and worked out it is roughly 1.5 hours to Pra Loup or Foux D’allos for skiing and 1.5 hours to the coast. Perfect!! Colin and Sandra gave us excellent directions to and from the Mountains and the coast. Le Diamant Noir was an excellent base for us to experience Provence in the winter season. i would highly recommend a visit.

  37. James and Mel

We have stayed at Le Diamant Noir regularly for the last 3 years. The food Sandra has produced is amazing. We would highly recommend Sandra’s food. Colin and Sandra were fantastic hosts and gave us excellent tips on where to visit in the local area. The accommodation was to a much higher standard than Gites we have stayed in before. We are looking forward to our next visit.

  38. James & Kate O'Sullivan

Very well appointed spotless accommodation providing everything needed from fluffy towels, quality linen, excellent furnishings and even beach towels! Colin and Sandra are excellent hosts and have set the very high standards to keep them a cut above the many other properties available in the area. Sandras’ food was excellent and can especially recommend the Cottage Pie! And to top it all Aups is an excellent location to view the many sights of this wonderful area. A la prochaine!

  39. Nigel & Sue Cove

Just returned from a wonderful week at Le Genevrier gite. We have been visiting Aups for 16 years now and this is the best accommodation we have stayed in. The gites are very comfortable, well equipped and spotlessly clean. Also the weather was very hot so the pool and BBQ were very welcome. Sandra & Colin were very friendly hosts and feel we missed out by not sampling her food! We will have to try some next year! For those coming to the area for the first time there are some lovely villages to visit (Moustiers St Marie & Moissac Bellevue are our favourites) and also the Gorges Du Verdon is a must see. We love the French markets in Aups, Lorgues Salernes & Regusse. Our favourite restaurant in Aups is Des Gourmets.
We will definitely be returning to “Le Diamant Noir” next year. Thank you to Sandra & Colin for their hospitality.

  40. Doug Bittner

while I have not stayed at this place, I was honored and thrilled to spend a week with Sandra and Colin at their last place in Nice…….they are the most fun and cool folks you could hope to encounter. We had a blast and Sandra is the chef de la Chefs !!! Very friendly and helpful, we toured the Georges together and many other places. They know the riviera and that part of France very well and share all the info with their friends and guests. I can’t wait to see them again and their new place, friends for life, from sunny Fort Lauderdale, Doug Bittner

    December 2010

We had the most restful and stress free late autumn break at Le Diamont Noir. It was wonderful to arrive at such a comfortable, beautifully appointed apartment with everything we could want or imagine catered for. The decor is lovely with numerous thoughtful touches and a multitude of extras. The whole enviroment is lovely with a beautiful garden and in the summer we will return to enjoy the pool! Although not isolated there is absolute privacy but if needed it is easy to contact Sandra and Colin, the very attentive couple who make sure your visit is perfect. Sandra is an excellent cook and her meals are excellent and its truly a perfect holiday when you don’t have to cook every meal!
There are so many places to visit and things to see in this area and next time we shall stay for much longer,we agree with all the comments written above.
A very big thank you to Colin and Sandra for a very special time in Aups.

    Comment for the Visitors Book.

It is the little things that make a difference to a holiday and at Le Diamont Noir the little things are given a high priority. From the fluffy towels to the L’Occitane toiletries and the herbs and spices for you to use nothing was lacking. It is delightful to be able to pop outside your door and pick fresh rosemary and mint to use. Sandras meals are wonderful – we would recommend the Fish Stew and the Malaysian Fish Curry. Swimming in the pool whilst smelling the lavender is pure bliss.

We felt welcome but not intruded upon – very important for us! Fabulous setting, lovely village within walking distance for those self indulgent lunches and dinners and plenty of local colour.

Lac St Croix is a must for families and more serious swimmers and if you can brave the traffic in high season don’t miss Cap D’Antibes – the views are stunning.

Many thanks for providing a wonderful backdrop for our first main holiday sans enfants!

    Helen and Paul – Yorkshire

  43. Stuart & Pennie Calder

I would definitely echo all the comments above.

In addition, the apartment is a marvellous starting point for discovering the area by bicycle. There are rides for all levels of cycling – from small local rides to neighbouring villages of which Tourtour is a must, to longer dramatic rides around the magnificent Lac Saint Croix or adjacent Gorges du Verdon. The Bauxite route which runs near to Brignoles around the Lac de Carces is superb.

If you prefer off-road cycling, there are some fantastic mountain bike trails in the adjacent woods and hillsides, often old, disused roads between villages – for instance Cotignac to Salernes – give you a glance of the countryside that few people see.

There are many more to explore……

  44. admin

Thank you for your kind comments- looking forward to seeing you again

  45. John and Janet Napier

We have just returned from Le Diamant Noir having spent 11 wonderful days at Le Genevrier gite. The accommodation was everything we hoped it might be. The modern gite was well equipped, tastefully decorated and spotlessly clean. Sandra and Colin were excellent and attentive hosts. In particular we enjoyed two Thursday evening barbecues with them and the food they prepared was excellent. Another useful feature was the gourmet meals made by Sandra for our freezer.

Aups is within easy walking distance and has an abundance of shops and restuarants. Also extremely useful was the nearby (but not intrusive) Intermarche. The surrounding countryside is beautiful with many interesting medieval villages such as Cotignac to visit. Towns like Frejus are an easy drive away as is the spectacular Gorges Du Verdon and the Verdon National Park.

We hope to return there and have no hesitation in recommending Le Diamant Noir to others.

I have stayed at Le Diamant Noir a number of times now , The gites are fully equipped and offer the best self-catering accommodation I have ever stayed in. The kitchens have everything one could need; the facilities are wonderful, and the overall standard is extremely high. Having the option of home cooked meals is a definite plus. After spending the day exploring the local area, which has plenty to offer all ages, to come home to one of Sandra’s meals is a real treat.
To relax and unwind by the beautiful pool area is the perfect way to end a day of discovery, after visiting local vineyards, villages the gorge de Verdon and more.
All in all a stay at Le Diamont Noir is relaxing and provides a sophisticated holiday, with all the amenities one could need. Sandra and Colin are the perfect hosts, and I will continue to visit in the future.

My wife and I have stayed at Le Diamant Noir twice, once at L’Amandier and once at the smaller Le Genévrier. The gits are sparkling clean, well-equipped, beautifully decorated and really lovely with everything you need. Collin and Sandra couldn’t be a nicer couple, and the region has so much to see and do you would need weeks: hiking, sight-seeing, beautiful little towns, restaurants galore. We’ll be back!

—-We dream about the balmy days when we were in Aups.

“If you are looking for a gite that is modern, comfortably furnished and very well-appointed, then Le Diamant Noir would suit your needs. The gite is an easy walk from the village of Aups which is lively and full of character. You have a supermarché on the doorstep and a lovely pool outside your front door. Other attractions include – the Gorges du Verdun, unspoilt small hilltop villages with historic churches and lovely bars. You can explore the delights of the Haut Var as a cyclist or on the excellent way-marked walking routes. Restaurants you may not need as the excellent cuisine by our hosts is highly recommended.”

We had an amazing holiday at Le Diamont Noir. Everything was perfect, the weather, the town of Aups and the surrounding area and our hosts, Sandra and Colin. We went at the beginning of August and we shall be returning hopefully next year.
The food Sandra makes is lovely, we bought three different meals from her, all perfect. We had a wonderful BBQ, well worth the money and both Sandra and Colin were great company for the whole evening.
The area has so much to offer, lots of old, delightful villages to visit all within 15 mins drive. The lake is a “must” to visit and the Gorge De Verdon.
The gite is all we could wish for, well equipped, immaculately clean and little extras making it a perfect place to spend your holiday.
