Aups held its first Summer Truffle festival this week. It was an evening of gastronomic flavours to celebrate the Summer truffle.
Tombola tickets were on sale, and the price included a special commemorative glass to take around the stalls, for wine-tasting.
Several local vineyards were represented, with a good selection of wines, to accompany the delicious, canapés and verrines, all garnished with summer truffles. These tasty offerings were provided by local restaurants, all offering special summer truffle menus, and giving us a taste of their cuisine, through the beautifully presented “amuses bouche”, which they were preparing at their stalls. There were lots of ideas for ways to use the truffles, which were on sale at various stalls.
An area of ground had been prepared in the centre of the square, with truffle hunters demonstrating how their dogs sniff out the buried treasure.
Other local products were available, including cheese, medal-winning olive oil, honey from our local bees, locally produce saffron and products including saffron, mandolins for slicing truffles, containers for serving truffles—
We received a telephone call the following day, with the welcome news that we had won Lot 3 in the tombola
Including the products displayed in the photo, we also won a magnum of high quality wine from a local vineyard and a meal in one of the restaurants. We were delighted!
